H
I S T O R Y
In
1989, after 15 years of exhaustive research on the Peloponnesian vineyards
-particulary suitable for the varieties Moschofilero and Aghiorghitiko-
the oenologist Yiannis Tselepos, a graduate of the University of Dijon,
created his own vineyard in the Arcadian land. There he experiments on
the adaptation of foreign varieties to this mountainous eco-system. Thus
the vineyard's two series of wines came into being.
TSELEPOS
ESTATE is a full-scale vine-growing enterprise, situated in the central
Peloponnese on the foothills of Mt Parnon in the region of ancient Tegea.
The
vine-growing tradition of the area dates back to the ancient times. Homer
refers to "Mantineia, abounding in vines", well known for its great Dionysian
feasts, the centre of which was god Pan, son of Dionysos.
The
vineyard covers a privately owned area of 11 hectares. The microclimate
of the region contributes greatly to the quality of the produced grapes.
Hard winters and cool summers ripen the grapes slowly, in a unique manner.
The
enterprise boasts a fully-equiped, state-of-the-art winery. Elements of
traditional architecture have been incorporated in the construction of
the building.
The
winery, the underground cellars, the bottling plant as well as our full
team of employees who are passionately involved in the making of wine,
guarantee for the excellent quality of our products. |
