PAPAGIANNAKOS
ESTATE is situated in the Mesogeia, an area with rich vinicultural tradition.
In ancient times, there stood the temple of Artemis, a holy place of worship
of Dionysos, the god of wine. According to tradition, it was Bacchus himself
who taught the ancient Greeks the art of wine-making. At the dawn of the
twentieth century (in 1919, to be precise) grand father Papagiannakos,
a worthy follower of the Art of Bacchus, is making wine in Markopoulo,
in the heart of the Mesogeia. The generous sun and the arid soil of Attica
guaranteed for the prosperity of the vines and the success of the venture.
In the sixties, technology joined in. The Estate aquired all the equipment
necessary for the production of wine and the second generation of Papagiannakos
took over. Today, the third generation keeps up the family tradition with
the same love for good wine, practising leading wine-making techniques
with acquired knowledge and experience. An ultra-modern production plant
with pneumatic presses, stainless steel tanks and thermal fermentation
control is built up by the extended vineyards. The fruits of this 80 year-old
tradition, are the four unique wines presented here. With full, harmonious
taste, appealling to even the most demanding connaisseur, with brilliant
colours and intoxicating aromas, the Papagiannakos wines are yours to enjoy. |
