    H I S T O R Y
It was Christmas Eve 1983, when Konstantinos Antonopoulos decided to create his own vineyard. "Responsibilities are born in dreams" he believed. "In the beginning, all things are in your mind and that is where they begin to take shape". In 1988, when the company ANTONOPOULOS VINEYARDS was founded, his vision begins to take form.
Konstantinos Antonopoulos, a creative man by nature, was a connoisseur. He had his own ideas about wine, based on his love for the field. He believed that to create a wine, there are three stages. The first is the vineyard itself and its choice, since this stage culminates in the planting of the vines; the vines follow the path you design for them, he believed. The second stage begins with the grape harvest, when you come face to face with your own self and with what you have invested in the vineyard; if you have not been "honest", this is what you will reap, and the wine will be a sad disappointment. The third stage, which is closely related to and depended on the other two, is how people feel about your work.
The man is no longer among us, but his vision and his philosophy live on and inspire the work of the present owners of the company, Yiannis and Nikos Halikias.
The modern wine-making facilities of the company are located 10 km from the city of Patras and provided with a wine cellar holding 300 oak barrels where the white and red wines mature. The company's vineyards cover an area of 11 hectares, whereas another 15 hectares are associated vineyards in the regions of Achaia, Nemea and the highlands of Mantinia.
